Diversify Sires Halter and Performance Winners

Bear Smith of BJ Ranch in Eustis, Florida, is pleased to announce that she has a new partner in the ownership of her APHA Champion stallion, Diversify.  Bear’s new partners Joyce Roberson and granddaughter Megan Roberson, owners of Rivers End Ranch in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.  Diversify, a Leading Sire who had been bred to a select number of mares since Bear retired him from the show ring, has excelled at producing correct, athletic and good-minded offspring that consistently win at both halter and performance.

“I am really looking forward to working with the Robersons,” Bear said.  “They have a real interest in the breeding program and excellent business sense, and we are excited about producing even more winners with Diversify!”
Joyce and Megan first approached Bear about breeding to Diversify last year and bought several broodmares in foal to the well-known stallion.  10-year-old Megan, was taking riding lessons from Bear at the time and also became very interested in longe line, a specialty of Bear’s.  The Robersons soon became interested in breeding more mares to Diversify and then in going into partnership with Bear.

Diversify, who earned his APHA Championship as a three-year-old, has produced multiple-breed, multiple point earners in halter, longe line and performance, with a number of his offspring earning ROMs in all three.  For example, at the 2000 APHA World Championship Show, Call Me Diversified was third on Open Longe Line and eighth in Amateur Halter Geldings.  At the World Show in 2001, Diversified Deception was Reserve World Champion in Open Longe Line.  Diversified Bucks was Top 5 in Halter at the 2002 APHA World Show and Top 10 in Halter in 2003.

In 2004, Zipped In Sweets was a Pinto World Champion, as was Miss Diversify in 2004.  Miss Diversify also made Top 5 at the APHA World Show in 2005.  My Bucks Diversified was 2004 ABRA World Champion Longe Liner and 2005 ABRA Reserve World Champion Longe Liner and made the ABRA World Show Top Ten in Two-Year Old Western Pleasure.  In addition, he was the highest point-earning yearling in the history of the Buckskin Association.  In 2005, Diversified Impulse was seventh out of 77 entries in Yearling Open Stallions at the World Show.

Megan Roberson’s dream is to be a trainer, and her grandparents want her to have as much experience in riding and showing as she can.  Megan, whom Bear describes as a good rider and a hard worker devoted to learning, loves the longe line as well as the Youth 13 and Under performance classes.

In her longe line debut at the 2005 Georgia Paint Horse Futurity, Megan placed first, fourth and seventh out of 21 entries in the Open Longe Line.  Like her grandparents, she is excited about their Diversify foals and looking forward to continuing Diversify’s winning tradition.  “One thing the Roberson’s and I want to emphasize is that we share a serious interest in continuing to produce beautiful and versatile Paint horses that represent the high standard for the breed,” said Bear.  Bear will continue to oversee the BJ Ranch breeding, training and showing programs, as well as to oversee the Rivers End Ranch breeding program.  Look for Bear and Megan with Diversify’s offspring at future shows!
